What We Do

Studies show that injured employees recover more quickly when they return to work as soon as medically possible. Our Office can assist employers in developing Temporary Modified Duty (TMD) plans for employees who are recuperating from occupational injuries/illnesses. We can also assist in making sure employee's workstations are within acceptable ergonomic standards by conducting ergonomic evaluations. Our goal is to eliminate musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Mediation and Workplace Resolution

What We Do

Even in the best environments, teams will face challenges. That’s why Kentucky provides a professional, proven mediation and workplace resolution program, with trained, unbiased mediators who can assist in moving a team from conflict to shared goal.  Both services are free to Team Kentucky members and are completely voluntary.

Mediation

Mediation helps with issues primarily between two people (equal co-workers or employee and supervisor), and provides an opportunity for employees to solve problems with co-workers. A trained mediator meets with the people in conflict and helps them reach their own solution to their problems. The mediator does not take sides or make any decisions. Either an employee or a supervisor may request mediation.

Workplace Resolution

Workplace Resolution is requested by a manager, and involves larger groups. The service can help teams more effectively address personality conflicts, power struggles, teamwork concerns, unclear expectations, trust, troubled employees, or the need for additional training. Once the request is made, our facilitators will meet with each team member of the group, and then make recommendations for improvement based on the team's input.

Performance Management

What We Do

The Commonwealth's performance evaluation process of state merit employees is an important part of an employee’s work life. The system establishes clear performance goals, recognizes outstanding performance and encourages productive communication with an employee’s supervisor.

The system was developed to assist with communication between the employee and supervisor (evaluator) and includes planning, coaching, feedback, documentation and annual performance evaluation. Performance evaluations are important opportunities for supervisors and employees to share in an open dialog, set goals and methods of attaining goals, and discuss an employee's individual performance.
