Training and Development- HR Staff/KHRIS

DHRA is proud to offer the following KHRIS training to agency HR staff.

To enroll, please contact your agency training liaison.

Prerequisite courses:

KHRIS Basics of Navigation

This online course must be completed prior to attending any KHRIS training. 

Accurate Time Reporting

This online course must be completed prior to attending KHRIS time management classes (HRG-TM, TMA). Please note that all employees must complete this training. 

In accordance with Personnel Cabinet policy and the need to ensure awareness of the Personal Information Security and Breach Investigation Procedures and Practices Act (KRS 61.931), the Personnel Cabinet requires that all users complete security training before access is granted to any of the Personnel Cabinet systems and then annually, in order to maintain access. 

*Security Awareness [All employees are required to complete this course.]

This online course is presented by the Commonwealth Office of Technology and provides helpful tips on how to protect Commonwealth information and assets, including ways to keep sensitive information safe. All employees must complete this training.

*HIPAA Rules & Compliance 

This online course will define HIPAA terms, explain the regulations and discuss what business entities and employees in healthcare-related fields need to do to comply with them. Additional content, from DEI, is included with this course.

*Kentucky Employees' Health Plan HIPAA Supplement

This addition to the online course is very specific to the needs of those that work directly with the Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan and it’s members.

LEVEL 100 COURSES:

KHRIS Human Resource Generalist (HRG) Training

This week-long in-person instructor led training is a compilation of 5 individual KHRIS modules restricted to HR staff. The KHRIS modules will provide new HRGs with a basic knowledge of: 

     Organizational Management (OM) 100

     Personnel Administration (PA) 100

     Time Management (TM) 100

     Payroll (PY) 100

     Benefits Administration (BN) 100

This training is intended for new HR Administrators who already have a basic knowledge of the above HR modules and provides system-based knowledge and skills essential to performing day-to-day HR activities for agencies using KHRIS.  You must successfully complete the full course (all 5 modules) to request and obtain the HRG security role in KHRIS. Once the HRG role is obtained, individual module courses may be taken as a refresher.

HRG Checklist: Once an Executive Branch user completes HRG training and is granted the HRG role, certain courses are required in  order to maintain the HRG role. This is in addition to the annual HR security training. 

CHECKLIST is available for tracking and certification by the HR Executive. 

After completing the HRG Certification, Executive Branch users may also choose to complete the HR Academy. Successful completion provides an additional/optional certification as well as a badge within MyPURPOSE. There is no deadline for completion of this optional certification and badge; however users always encouraged to grow and advance in their HR profession.

KHRIS Human Resource Generalist (HRG) Training for County Fees ONLY

This two day in-person instructor led training is a compilation of 5 individual KHRIS modules restricted to HR staff. The KHRIS modules will provide new HRGs with a basic knowledge of:

     Time Management (TM) 100

     Payroll (PY) 100

     Benefits Administration (BN) 100

This training is intended for new HR Administrators, within County Fees, who already have a basic knowledge of the above HR modules and provides system-based knowledge and skills essential to performing day-to-day HR activities for agencies using KHRIS.  You must successfully complete the full course (all 5 modules) to request and obtain the HRG security role in KHRIS. Once the HRG role is obtained, individual module courses may be taken as a refresher.    

Time Administrator Training (TMA)

This one day in-person instructor-led training provides the basic concepts of Time Administration. This course is intended for employees who will record, review, correct, and approve time in KHRIS; students will learn how to make changes to Master Data. 

You must successfully complete the course in order to obtain the TM Administrator (TMA) security role in KHRIS. Once that role is obtained, employees are encouraged to attend the course again as a refresher.

LEVEL 200 COURSES:

These advanced courses are intended to build on the level 100 courses. Prior to attending, KHRIS HRG training must be successfully completed and the employee must have at least six months experience working with the HRG role.

KHRIS Organizational Management 200 

This one day in-person instructor-led training is restricted to agency HR staff with the KHRIS HRG role. Prerequisite: Six months of experience with the KHRIS HRG role. This is a one-day advanced-level course intended to supplement the knowledge gained in the Organizational Management module of the KHRIS HRG training. 

KHRIS Personnel Administration 200

This one day in-person instructor-led training is restricted to agency HR staff with the KHRIS HRG role. Prerequisite: Six months of experience with the KHRIS HRG role. This is a one-day advanced-level course intended to supplement the knowledge gained in the Personnel Administration module of KHRIS HRG training. This course covers a combination of system and business content. Participants will have the opportunity to master difficult action processing scenarios and reporting in KHRIS, identify legislative support for day-to-day processes, as well as the proper procedures for leave and months of service verifications. 

KHRIS Payroll 200

This two-day day in-person instructor-led training is restricted to agency HR staff with the KHRIS HRG role. Prerequisite: Six months of experience with the KHRIS HRG role. This is a two-day advanced-level course intended to supplement the knowledge gained in the Payroll module of HRG training. 

KHRIS County Fees Payroll 200 (PY200)

This one day in-person instructor-led training is restricted to County Fees HR staff with the KHRIS HRG role. Six months of experience with the KHRIS HRG role. This is a one-day advanced-level course intended to supplement the knowledge gained in the Payroll module of HRG County Fees training. 

KHRIS Workers’ Compensation Buyback  

This half-day in-person instructor-led training is designed for HR professionals who administer the workers compensation buyback process. This course will give an overview of the workers compensation program, explain the workers compensation calculator, process workers compensation adjustments and quota corrections associated with workers compensation in KHRIS. The training will also demonstrate the workers compensation buyback process from beginning to end.
