Volunteer Opportunities

Commonwealth employees serve the citizens of Kentucky every day. But many go above and beyond to volunteer in their communities as well. Below are a few examples of efforts supported by Team Kentucky.

KECC

Each year the Personnel Cabinet administers the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC) to all employees who receive their pay through the Commonwealth.

The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds through a single source for a number of state approved charities including: Christian Appalachian Project, United Way of Kentucky, Community Health Charities, Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, WHAS Crusade for Children, March of Dimes, Kosair Charities, American Cancer Society and the Kentucky Child Victims' Trust Fund. This eliminates the need for multiple charities to solicit donations year-round and allows employees who wish to participate the ability to do so through payroll deduction or through a one-time cash donation.

Electronic Pledging

This new feature not only saves paper and postage but also keeps your voluntary pledge a bit more private by allowing you to set it up yourself. Pledging is simple, though instructions are available below. The electronic form will remain available in KHRIS ESS through the end of the campaign. If you have questions, please contact your KECC Coordinator for further assistance.

Current Employees
When making your pledge during the campaign window, please do so electronically through the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS) at the above link on this page. If you are unable to complete the electronic form, please provide your completed paper pledge form to your KECC Coordinator. Your deductions will begin with the first pay received in January and will continue through the end of the year.

Click here for access to instructions for pledging.

New Employees
When hired outside of the campaign window, you don't have to wait until the next campaign to start giving. Please provide your completed new employee pledge form to your HR Administrator. Your deductions will begin with your next (or first) pay and will continue through the remainder of the year.

Click here for access to instructions for pledging.

Separating Employees
When separating or retiring from state government, you have the opportunity to make a final contribution. Please provide your completed separation pledge form to your agency HR Administrator, indicating whether your contribution should come from your final payroll or if the gift will be given via credit card or personal check.

 Charitable Organizations
Are you a charitable organization interested in participating? To be considered for the upcoming campaign, please download our application and return by February 15. For more information about the requirements for the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign, click here.

Blood Donation

Nearly every month, employees have the opportunity to help support the area's emergency needs by donating blood. Those who donate receive four hours of leave time with pay to participate and recover.
